gPanel Directory Overview

The gPanel Directory module is the easiest way to find, share, and sync groups, organizations, and contacts.

Groups

First up in the gPanel Directory module is Groups. Groups are for email distribution and access control. This section allows you to manage all the groups in your domain in one central location. If you’re a smaller business, chances are all of your groups will appear here in the pick list. Bigger businesses can quickly find a group or a groups alias with the search bar at the top of gPanel. You’ll find quick options to manage a group in the upper right hand corner. Within each group you’ll find settings that can also be managed to your liking.

Group Templates

Next up in the gPanel Directory module is Group Templates. This section acts as a consistent way to easily manage templates with new or previously saved settings based on your domain specifications. You can create a template with all of the settings to your liking. Once created, use the template when creating a new group for a more efficient and intuitive workflow.

Here's a pro tip! You can also save an existing group as a template by clicking save in the upper right hand corner.

Organizational Units

Organizational Units is the next section of the gPanel Directory module. In this section you can manage organizations which includes viewing and moving users to organizations. Organizational units help you see the structure of your company and are used for domain settings and Google Workspace services. In the upper right corner of organizational units, you’ll notice buttons for adding an organizational unit and other actions. You can also create parent organizations and then fill them in with subsidiary organizations, allowing for complete management.

Here's a pro tip! We recommend that every business, no matter how big or small, organize their domain based on business groupings. So things like your sales team, your marketing team, and so on.

Shared Contacts

After Organizational Units is Shared Contacts. In this section you can share contacts with your entire domain without cluttering up contact groups. Shared Contacts are domain-wide and act as an email only type-ahead assist for non-domain contacts so as not to appear in a user’s personal contacts.

Contact Sync

Lastly in the gPanel Directory module is Contact Sync. From here you have the ability to sync a group of contacts from one source user to another user, organizational unit, group, or even domain. When creating a Contact Sync, you can choose from a personal contacts or directory contacts sync type. A personal contacts sync will require you to select a source user and a contact group. A directory contacts sync searches through all of the contacts in your directory, hidden or not, and syncs them to a destination user. Additionally, any adds, changes, and deletions to the source group will be reflected to all of the destination groups, keeping everything in sync.

The gPanel Directory module is the easiest way to make sure that you and your domain have the resources needed to be efficient, intuitive, and secure.
