How to Request an RMA or Troubleshoot ChromeOS Device Issues

 

Step 1: Troubleshoot Common Issues (Try This First!)


Before starting an RMA or chatting with a bot, check if your issue can be resolved with these common Chromebook fixes. 90% of routine software issues are resolved here.

Issue / Action Symptoms Steps to Resolve
Fix Sluggishness Freezing, laggy typing, or apps crashing. Press Search + Esc to open Task Manager; identify and End Process on high-resource apps.
Resolve Wi-Fi Issues Disconnecting or slow internet speeds. Toggle Wi-Fi off for 10s. If it fails, go to Settings > Network, select your network, click Forget, and reconnect.
Power & Charging Device won't turn on or charge. Ensure charger is secure. Check for the indicator light. Try a hard reset (Refresh + Power).
System Updates Missing features or persistent bugs. Go to Settings > About ChromeOS > Check for updates. Always restart after an update.
Powerwash (Reset) Major errors or preparing for a new user. Back up data first! On the sign-in screen, press Ctrl + Alt + Shift + R and select Powerwash.

*Per manufacturer policy, Lenovo RMAs must be initiated within 14 days of purchase. If your Lenovo device is older than 14 days, please proceed to Section 3.

If your device was purchased more than 30 days* ago, or if you have hardware specifically from the brands below, please contact the manufacturer directly to start your RMA.
