Initially, the client purchased around 500-600 licenses but eventually assigned over 2,500, risking noncompliance with Google’s licensing agreements.

The client encountered difficulties as they expanded their usage of Looker, a powerful tool for data analysis. While they initially purchased a limited number of licenses, the demand for access grew rapidly, leading to a situation where they had far exceeded their allotted licenses.
This overextension put them at risk of hefty penalties from Google, including potential termination of their account. The absence of guardrails within Looker to alert them of their license limit further complicated matters.
Facing these challenges, the client needed a solution to not only regain compliance but also streamline their licensing management for future growth.

We assisted in securing approximately 800 of the highest tier of Looker licenses tailored to their specific requirements. Our negotiation ensured that the client could continue to provide licenses to their retail partners while remaining compliant with Google Cloud’s regulations.
Additionally, we arranged a four-year early renewal deal, securing favorable terms and stability for their operations. This comprehensive approach provided the client with the clarity needed to manage their Looker licenses moving forward.
As a result of our collaboration, the client successfully navigated the licensing landscape and avoided noncompliance penalties. They are now better equipped to manage their Looker licenses and have recently purchased nearly 900 Gemini licenses for Google Workspace.
